As an artist, I am interested in the ability to persevere from internal struggle. Seeking trust in myself by using an intuitive nature. My reactions to the world I take part in become sculptural. A way for the viewer to visually interact with my story and verbalize their own. Experiences once perceived as mundane or negative now become the catalyst to exposing all that is wonderful in the scars society has shamed us into hiding.

My work focuses on exploration of landscape formation as a metaphor for the way identity is constructed. A demonstration of how memories and scars become at odds in the bi-products of the transformative experiences that shape identity. As rivers carve deep into the mountain, memories carve into identity. Scars left behind to explore and challenge us into thriving on the adventure of living. Scars are evidence of endurance, strength, and survival that should not be hidden or ashamed of.

Constructing a landscape out of materials of the earth (wood, glass, metal, natural fibers) I use moments from my narrative to expose the beauty that follows the chaos of destruction and creation. This perpetual cycle is universal in nature as well as man. Memories become our greatest lies leaving to scars become our greatest truths.
